I'VE NEVER PLAYED. CAN I JOIN?

Yes! Whether you've never skated before or grew up with a hockey stick in-hand, we welcome folks of ALL skills levels. To help newcomers, we offer skills clinics at the beginning of the season. You'll learn skating fundamentals, stickinghandling techniques, and lots more

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Signing up is easy! Just email us at midcoastwomensicehockey@gmail.com letting us know you want to join and we'll add you to the roster.

In addition, each season all participants must complete an intake form and waiver.

WHO DO YOU PLAY?

We play ourselves! Each week, the program organizers divide the group into two team for an hour of friendly pick-up.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE GEAR?

Players must wear a full set of gear. Bring your own or rent a full set of gear for the season through the program. The gear package includes all pads, helmet, jerseys and stick. Skates aren't included, but you can rent a pair from the rink until you find a pair.

If you have some gear, but not a full kit, we offer partial set rentals.

HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

Program dues change year-to-year depending on multiple factors, but generally a full season costs about $300. The season runs from mid-October through March. That price covers ice time as well as coaching at clinics.

Gear rental is a separate cost. Rent a full set of equipment for $100 for the season. Pricing for partial sets depends on what you need.

We also offer a drop-in rate based on availability for $25/night. Due to program growth in recent years, drop-in openings are limited.

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE PLAY?

We play on Sunday afternoon /evenings at the Midcoast Recreation Center (MRC) in Rockport on Route 90.

Games are an hour-long and span three skill levels.

Recreational: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Intermediate: 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Advanced: 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The season starts in mid-October with a month of clinics and ends in late March.

ARE THERE OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY?

On Tuesday evenings (8:00 - 9:00 pm) we offer an advanced hour of pick-up hockey. The hour is usually co-ed, but preference is given to women.

The dues for Tuesday are separate from the Sunday. The season typically costs about $250 with drop-ins available (price TBD).

Tuesday night offers a great opportunity for those looking to increase their level of play or for more advanced skaters looking for a faster game.

WHERE CAN I SHARPEN MY SKATES?

You can get your skates sharpened for a small fee at the MRC. There is a window by the locker-rooms. For more information check out the MRC website: https://www.midcoastrec.org/skate-sharpening.

I WANT TO BUY GEAR, WHERE DO I GO?

There several places you can pick up both new and used gear. Below are a few options:
